Went with a party of 10. Well received by dinning room and wait staff. Exceeded all expectations on service, quality and unique tastings. A definite must for a great dinning experience in Detroit.

Had to do some work near Belle Isle and saw this as a great chance to visit Marrow. I'd read about the place in the newspapers and been wanting to try it. My wife was game too. I checked about reservations and it looked pretty wide open for a weekend night. I skipped the process and we walked in and requested a spot. Originally, they wanted to give us a location in the sun and we wisely asked to take a different spot. Their sunshades probably need a bit of an upgrade to handle the departing sun, but otherwise everything was fine. We had a great server who explained everything in detail throughout the evening. We debated the tasting menu, and even the wine pairings. I'm glad we skipped the wine, as the menu alone was enough to (over)fill. We both had the tasting menu, which I think is a requirement for the table. I had some wine and she had a cocktail which we both enjoyed. Our menu consisted of cheese croquettes, a kind of morel mushroom ceviche, vigil stew with cod and chickpeas, prawn with oxtail and squid ink pasta, beef with snail and romesco, and finally a poached pear with goat cheese ice cream. We also has some roasted marrow at the beginning. Can't go to a restaurant named Marrow without trying that. Generally, everything was quite good and well prepared. I think a few things didn't pop for me/us because they were just not flavors we enjoyed. A few niggling critiques. The marrow needed a bit of salt, the stew was too heavy on chickpeas, the squid ink pasta just wasn't our thing, the beef was beautifully cooked but also a touch too cool and could have used some more salt or seasoning. The escargot could have used some butter and garlic. The romesco sauce was also a bit too spicy. Neither of us really went for the pear dessert, though I certainly ate it all. These are small things. I think most of those are personal taste or preference. I think the not hot steak was the only real misstep. I wanted to sample some absinthe but our stomachs were very full. The total bill of just short of $300 was, we thought, a pretty good value based on what we had. I think the stew should be excluded. 5 dishes would have been ample and left us satisfied but not 'oh, I ate too much' as we left. More comments with the pics. A 4.5 rounds to 5. It's amusing to see they are next to Sister Pie, another eclectic food location. Find my review on that one.

Hands down one of the best food experiences I have ever had. The thought, care and creativity around these dishes was intentional and the hubs and I were just blown away. The focus on local farm to table which just makes you feel good about putting your money here and the bartenders were great. They offer two types of dining experiences: à la carte or a six course meal. À la carte is more of a tapas style, so just know they're smaller portions Started off with the Pickled Shrimp that had a lot of flavor but the texture was a little too rubbery for me. Hubs didn't mind it and ate the rest of the plate. Next was a buffalo rabbit that was cooked perfectly with a perfect ranch buffalo taste pairing. Next was one of my favorites, the duck/pork pate with cherry chutney and a black garlic spread. The flavoring here was out of this world. After that it was the pork belly that was cooked to perfection. Perfect crisp on the outside and soft pork on the inside. The best part was the pop of feta with the caramelized carrots. Last were the ricotta donuts with an orange cream sauce. Soooo fluffy and one of the best desserts ever. They do a drip coffee and espresso from coffee haus that's got a great smoky profile that paired perfectly. Reservations are a must since it is rather small and they get busy quick. We'll be back to purchase items from the butcher shop for sure. Do yourself a favor and reserve yourself a spot and I promise you won't be disappointed.

Service, food and atmosphere are beyond outstanding! If you have not been, what are you waiting for?! Their famous burger is served lunch every day and Sunday dinner. We had both the burger and Tinned Fish. . .. happy dance for both! Enjoy!

Marrow is an exceptional restaurant that offers a truly remarkable dining experience. I recently had the pleasure of trying their tasting menu, and I can say without hesitation that it is a highly recommended experience. The tasting menu at Marrow is a culinary journey featuring a meticulously crafted selection of signature dishes that showcase the restaurant's commitment to using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. I loved all the different courses, with the Michigan trout served with roasted potatoes on a Riesling cream base standing out as perfectly cooked and a perfect combination. Chef Sarah Welch and her team do a great job with attention to detail and exceptional service. They took the time to explain each dish, offering insights into the ingredients and preparation methods that enhanced the overall dining experience. The ambiance at Marrow is impressive, with a modern, industrial-chic design that creates an intimate and inviting atmosphere. Overall, my experience at Marrow was nothing short of memorable. An absolutely amazing meal. Wonderful service, delicious food, lovely cozy ambiance. I have wanted to try Marrow since seeing Sarah on Top Chef several years ago. The way she talked about cooking and ingredients then made it clear that she loves food. This was one of the happiest meals I've ever had. Everything felt deeply seasonal without being obnoxious about seasonality of ingredients. The pickles were perfectly puckery, marrow was deeply savory and balanced with its toppings, the multiple forms of citrus and richness with the beets was so clever (and I kept dragging my finger through the sauce), the mushroom dumplings were a punch of flavor, ricotta gnocchi was simultaneously light and toothsome and the sauce was a masterpiece of depth and sweet alliums, and the pork belly with beans felt seasonal and light and perfectly balanced as well with a wonderful subtle thread of mustard running through every bite. Cocktail and mocktail were awesome and spring-y. The pavlova and surprise orange marmalade ice cream from our super kind server wrapped the meal in a perfectly creamy crunchy fruity bow. I was actually a little sad when the meal ended!

I went to Marrow with my family for my birthday weekend. The indoor was beautiful and we had a huge table for the 5 of us which was great. Our waitress was very lovely and answered all our questions in detail. Me and my mom did the tasting menu while other family members did individual dishes. Unfortunately, most of the food was just okay in my opinion, nothing stood out when it came to flavor and the lamb could have been more tender. The most delicious plate was the mushroom dumplings and that did not come on the tasting menu. They gave us all a birthday glass of chardonnay and me a birthday dessert which I really appreciated. I don't think I will be back myself but it is worth giving a try and making your own determination.

Lunch at Marrow! I was happy about the open bar seating when I walked in! The menu makes it hard to pick. There are MANY great options to select from. The burger was highly recommended, so I ordered it. It's the first cheeseburger I've had that melted in my mouth. I've never thought of meat as decadent before coming to Marrow! Be prepared to wait for your food. There was definitely a lunch crowd waiting. They have great service and a diverse, welcoming clientele. There's a small lot and street parking.
